Levaquin (Levofloxacin)

Levaquin is used at therapy of several kinds of infectious deseases, among which are: pneumonia, gonorrhea, infections of a skin, acute bronchitis.

Read instruction for Levaquin for the dose-definition. Levaquin should be washed down with a large amount of water. Take Levaquin as it was prescripted by your doctor, every day and at the same time. Drink more fluids when taking Levaquin. This can help to prevent forming of crystals of Levaquin in urine. It is recommended to continue to take Levaquin even if you felt a little better.

Levaquin - belongs to the fluoroquinolone antibiotics, it is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, stopping their reproduction.

Do not miss any doses. If you miss a dose of Cipro , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Take Levaquin regularly. If you missed administration of Levaquin, do it as it will be possible. If your missed dose of Levaquin coincides with next intake, skip it and take it as planned.

Contraindications:

• You are hypersensitive to the quinolone drugs (ciprofloxacin, for example);
• You have cardiac arrhythmia and low level of potassium in blood;
• You administer several antiarrhythmics (amiodarone, quinidine, sotalol, procainamide, amiodarone), Cisapride.

• If you are planning pregnancy, pregnant, breast-feeding;
• If you have dietary or drug allergy;
• If you have or had stenocardia,problems with liver or kidneys, inflammation of a sinew (or some other problems), Alzheimer desease;
• If you have problems with high brain pressure, blood vessels in a brain, problems with nervous system;

At a constant presence of the following side effects consult with your attending physician: Dizziness, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, weakness, stomach pain. If you have any of such side effects , seek for medical help immediately: dizziness, headache, stomach upset, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, nightmares, stomach ache, rash, restlessness, confusion, easy bruising or bleeding, light or yellowed skin, hallucinations, dark urine .
